A Closer Look at Dental Implants

Dental Implants, Fix Missing Teeth, Tooth Replacement, New Smile, South Charlotte Dentistry, Charlotte NCAt South Charlotte Dentistry, Dr. Wells and is expert team are ready to perfect your smile. If you have missing teeth, and are ready to get your beautiful smile back, come let us take care of you. Using our top-of-the-line technology and equipment, we can create dental implants to fit perfectly in your mouth and fill those voids where teeth used to be.

Why choose implants? Well, before implants came along, individuals with missing teeth had to wear dentures or bridges, which simply sit in the mouth. These devices can move around, stick to food, and even fall out since they are not permanently connected to the gums and jaw. Implants, however, are fused to the patient’s jawbone to ensure they do not budge. Once they are in, it’s virtually impossible to tell they are not original. As a matter of fact, it won’t take long at all for you to forget they are implants as well!

At South Charlotte Dentistry, we recommend two types of implants: Endosteal and Subperlosteal. Over the years, we have found these to be the safest and most durable implants to use. So which one should you use? Well, it’s best to come in for a consultation before any decision is made, but let’s go ahead and take a closer look at both types of implants.

·         Endosteal: After the tooth is pulled, screws and cylinder portions are surgically implanted into the gums and jaw. Then, once the gum tissue has had enough time to heal and fuse together with the implants, the artificial teeth are attached.

·         Subperlosteal: This is a similar process, only there is a metal frame fitted to the bottom of the gums, right where the jawbone meets. Screws and posts are then attached to this metal frame. Then the artificial teeth are mounted as the gums heal and fuse to the implant.

Both implants work well, but it is necessary to have a professional help decide on the best one for you.

So if you are missing teeth and are tired of hiding your smile, come in and see us at South Charlotte Dentistry today. We’re just a phone call away!

Does Tanning Make your Teeth Look Whiter?

Teeth Whitening, Tanning, Summer Vacations, South Charlotte Dentistry

Summer is fast approaching and warm weather is rolling in! It’s time to break out the summer attire and throw on swimming gear for pool days and beach trips. With warm weather, comes sunny skies, it’s the perfect time to get a tan! But can tanning make your teeth appear whiter?

Myth or Fact?

That’s right having a tan can make your teeth look whiter! It’s a trick-of-the-century illusion. The illusion of whiter teeth comes with tanning. The greater the contrast from skin to teeth the whiter your teeth will appear. It’s magic!

Best Ways to Tan

Tanning, tanning, tanning! Women love it! From sunbathing on the beach to laying in the tanning bed there are numerous ways to get a tan! A few ways to tan are:

·         Laying out in the sun
·         Swimming outdoors
·         Sunbathing at the beach
·         Tanning at the tanning bed
·         Getting a spray tan
·         Using tanning lotion

These are all great ways to get a tan! Just being outdoors will help you!

Know The Risk

Tanning is fun but it also comes with risk! The sun is dangerous and being exposed directly to the sun can cause sun poisoning, skin cancer, and dehydration! To stay safe while tanning it is important to drink a lot of water and wear sunscreen. Sunscreen should be reapplied even few hours to stay effective!

If tanning just isn’t for you, there are other ways to make your teeth shine. South Charlotte Family and Cosmetic Dentistry offers several different ways to whiten teeth and brighten smiles. The simplest way to start whitening your teeth is with whitening toothpaste but this is not very effective and takes a very long time! The best way to get whiter teeth in a timely fashion is with a dental bleaching at South Charlotte Dentistry. Another great method is Whitening trays that can be prescribed to you by Dr.Wells and his team!
